Monkey Mind

First winter rain-
even the monkey
seems to want a raincoat.

In spirituality there is something called the 'Monkey Mind' to describe the way our thoughts flit from one idea to another without taking time to fully explore them. This is likened to the way a monkey swings from tree to tree, tearing off pieces of fruit and throwing them away after just a taste.

  1. Mind is like a monkey which darts from one matter to next matter, one person to next person, and one place to the next. It never remains static as it is like an automatic machine. So the metaphor used in the article 'Monkey Mind' really is precise. Like a monkey swings from one tree to the next tree, tearing off pieces of fruit and throwing them away after just a taste, our mind is also hysteric in nature in such a way that even for a few seconds it does not like to stay fixed and immobile.

So, those who know and realize this secret knowledge will never agree with this stupid mind and its likes and dislikes. Rather he uses his wisdom and rationality to sort out rights and wrongs and diverts his mind towards God and His service.
